Day 4 – 31 May 2007: Asda receipt

Asda receipt

This photo is a homage to Martyn Hoyer. It is based on a photo I saw on his 365 Project website. It is his photo for December 5th (Direct link).

I have seen all the photos on Martyn’s site, and am really impressed by how he manages to turn mundane objects into stunning photographs.

Today I learnt how to make colours "pop" – using LAB mode in Photoshop, you increase contrast in the A and B channels, then adjust Lightness.

I also learnt about how to reduce noise and increase sharpness more effectively using LAB mode.

I am impressed with the sharpness in this photo – especially if you go to the "original size" and look at the area of focus in the near end of the bar code. I previously had issues about the sharpness of images from my D40.

31 May 2007 – Day 4 of my Project 365.

Day 3 – 30 May 2007: Soap – Imperial Leather

Soap - Imperial Leather (#2)

First attempt at a close-up with 18-55 kit lens.

Day 2 – 29 May 2007: Traffic warden – “Just doing my job…”

Traffic warden - "I'm just doing my job..."

Traffic wardens in Rotherham have a colourful uniform with purple caps and ties.

He is actually a “Senior Parking Attendant”, according to the text on his shoulder epaulette.

Day 1 – 28 May 2007: “Men at work”

Men at work

This is the first day of my Project 365.

Just a photo of men collecting the garbage from my street. I like the sense of motion and activity. I guess the sooner they finish, the sooner they get home :-)
